Search Engine Optimization (aka SEO), has to do with increasing a website’s organic ranking in the SERPs (search engine results page). “What in the world does all that mean”, you ask. Simply put, when you do a search on Google, let’s say, you will see a number of websites pop up. The listings at the very top and along the right side are ads, but the listings that run down the middle of the page are the organic (aka natural) listings. Organic listings are not ads in the sense that you do not and cannot pay to get your website there. Essentially, you must “prove” to Google, over time, that your website is worthy of a certain ranking (position) in the organic listing.

Let’s use an analogy. Imagine you go to the library (who does that anymore?), and you ask the librarian to recommend the top ten cookbooks on Asian cuisine. The librarian discovers that the library has 100 cookbooks on Asian cuisine, so what criteria does she use to determine the top ten? Maybe by author? Date of publication? Number of recipes, perhaps? The point is, there would need to be some kind of criteria in place for her to list all 100 cookbooks from most to least recommended. With Google, and other major search engines, its the same kind of process. We know the criteria used by major search engines like Google to rank websites highly which we will apply to your website.
